Annapurna Base Camp Trek
The Annapurna Base Camp (Sanctuary) is a high glacial basin lying 40 km directly north of Pokhara. This oval-shaped plateau sits at an altitude of over 4200 metres and is surrounded by a ring of the gigantic peaks including the south face of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna Fang, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III, Gangapurna and Singhachuli in a natural breathtaking amphitheater . The moment of Sunrise and Sunset on the mountain view from base camp is unimaginable. With the only entrance being a narrow valley between the peaks of Hiunchuli and Machapuchare, where run-off from glaciers drains into the Modi Khola River. The south-facing slopes are covered in dense tropical jungles of rhododendron and bamboo. The entire sanctuary was held as sacred to the Gurung people, one of the many native people to inhabit the area. The sanctuary was believed to be the home of several deities, from Hinduism and Buddhism as well as older animistic gods. The Gurungs have historically lived a semi-nomadic lifestyle, herding sheep and yaks in the Himalayan foothills, but many have diversified into other professions while retaining strong ties to their cultural heritage
The journey begins from Pokhara with gentle ascend up to Ghorepani and to Tadapani. While exploring villages, farmland, dense rhododendron forest we will reach Chhomrong. After Chhomrong the trail enters the narrow valley via Bamboo, Himalaya and Deurali. As the trail reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp and gentle ascend to Annapurna Base Camp where the ovel shape valley open with the close view of Massive mountain ranges. The return trail will be same till Chhomrong and descend down to Jhinu Danda and drive out to Pokhara.
