The story of the Khumbu region’s settlement begins with a nomadic couple who crossed the Nangpa La pass from Tibet in search of better pasture for their herd of hundred yaks. Upon arriving in the valley, they were immediately drawn to the land’s beauty and potential. They explored the entire valley, eventually settling in the valley, which became their new home. Realizing the valley’s promise, they returned to Tibet to bring more of their people, and slowly, the community began to grow. Over time, this settlement blossomed into what is now known as Khumbu, a region rich in Sherpa culture and tradition.
